The sixth grade has been working on persuasion. I challenged them to convince the people in our class to “Make the World a Better Place” by doing something specific. Students chose a topic and developed a persuasive speech and paper. We spent a lot of time working on creating engaging “attention getters” or “hooks” (the beginning of the speech used to grab the audience’s attention). Check out our introductions:
